Happy Holidays!

Hey hey!Dec. 26th Slalom Training

Had a great Christmas Eve out in Kitzbuehl this year… bunch of friends up on the hill at Pinky’s, celebrating, having fun til the break o’ dawn. The 25th was a chill day hanging in Kirchberg. Nothing too exciting. Grabbed an early dinner, watched a movie and lights out by 9PM.

On the 26th we got started early with some slalom training at the Geisberg. All good out there. Still not rippin my slalom, but hey, nothing ever comes without effort.

Some interesting things on the horizon for Ladies World Cup tour… there seems to be very little snow in Zargreb and Maribor. Not sure what’s going to happen if those don’t go down, but we’ll see. Stay tuned.

Other than that… Semmering on the 28th and 29th! I’ll go charge it with all I got.

I hope you had a joyous Holidays and that your 2009 will start off with a bang, health and happiness.

I’ll catch up with you soon…

XOXO,
Jules

Thumbs Up!

Greetings from St. Moritz

Hi There Everyone!

We arrived in St. Moritz after our Spain races and it looks like most of Europe is getting battered with some serious storms… La Molina was snowing cats n dogs, passes were closed at several locations, and it looks like we’ll be getting more on top of it.

Today several of us headed down to Lenzerheide about an hour away to get some much needed training in. I’m looking through a bunch of boots to see whether I can’t hone in on what’s been bothering me. The back is feeling better; not 100%, but better. Plus my friend Samantha who also happens to be a kick-ass physio therapist is here with me working me over really good.

That’s the thing though… when you’re in a funk, all you can do is keep plugging away and working hard to find the answers. Everyone goes through what I’m going through in their own way (work not going so well? Relationship a bit rocky? Can’t seem to take your favorite hobby to the next level?) and so it’s kind of a cool tale in the making. Can I pick it up and find answers to my challenges or …

I’ll check back with you real soon… for now, off to the table for some deep tissue work.

Bye bye!

Jules

Hometown Racing Nerves and Colorado Blizzards!s.

The races always seem to bring the snow.  We have really been waiting and wishing and hoping the snow would come soon, and when it comes, it’s always strange timing!  Two nights before our race in Aspen it started to dump!  Free skiing on the race hill was cancelled so they could clear the snow, and with no other real skiing, since this storm just brought a nice little bit of frosting to the mountains, we were left to sit in our rooms and just look at the hill… or go explore the shops of Aspen… which I did. My goal was to buy only ONE pair of jeans and I’m proud to say that I completed that mission without getting tempted by the glitz and glamour of all high-end fashion names to distract me. Yes!

Though I must say, with all the anticipation of the next day’s race, shopping really is a great way to calm those nerves.

Once again I was given number 1! First out of the gate twice in a row has to mean something!  I seem to get the first numbers quite often.
I don’t love it though, I have to admit.  It makes me really nervous knowing that I will be the test guinea pig, but hey I have to get used to it, and I have……  I just need to go a little faster!  I have won one first run starting 1…  Not in Aspen, but 7 is also a lucky number!
I skied much better second run, it wasn’t enough, but I felt good.

It’s great to be back in the gate.  My body feels much better, and I am ready for the season!  Keep tuning in and cheering us all on!!!  Ciao from the bitter cold of Lake Louise!!!
