Beautiful things happening in Cortina

You can’t even compare the backdrop of the finish area with anywhere else in the world. The mountains here are simply majestic!

The weekend so far has been great. The weather has never been better, and the fact that my race didn’t go according to plan was a bummer, but that day was much better knowing all the girls and I were there to help support the relief efforts in Haiti. It was great to see all the girls so into it! and there is even talk about doing something for a cause more often!

Another great surprise! My sister came over to give me some sister love and luck! Thanks everyone for always lending a helping hand!!! I do believe we can all make the world a better place one little step at a time.

Kitzbuhel downhill just on T.V.-three words for the top part: holy (Milka) cow ! Saw Cortina earlier- two words for Jules first split time: wah hoo ! -tied with Vonn for fastest time. Yes !- time now to mimic Kitzbuhel winner Cuche- only 5"-8", but in awesome shape-they say (weighing 190 pounds got to help too)- way I see it, J.M. needs to gain some weight and, especially, strength: "eat more pasta !, eat more Milka !, hire trainers Han und Franz !" : Today #8, tomorrow: #5, Vancouver: podium. Some advice / quotes (really) from coach J.C. Killy: "The best & fastest way to learn a sport is to watch a champion & imitate them" = copycat Vonn, "there's always an answer-find it" -see: pasta, Hans/Franz. "You need to have intelligent feet" -Vonn's feet told her to get stiffer men's skis-allegedly actually Bode's old skis. She's got a really smooth transition between turns-probably helped by rebound from really low stance- she gets down there, at extreme angle-"the better to push off from and whip into next gate"-and the better to really dig into the snow with. Vonn's going to have the best downhill / super G record of all time if this keeps up- no one is matching what she does. Paerson looks the closest, low stance-wise, but doesn't outrigger her outside leg and transition between turns & "jet / whip " out of the turn like Vonn. Maybe can beat Vonn without getting closer to her style-but I'd be making like a copycat & looking to out muscle her, Cuche style, if I couldn't do a perfect copy job.

Forsure... awesome back drop! I nearly died in 2008 with a fractured skull and now i 'live every day as tho it's my last'!!! Those snaps just made me web search a trip to Cortina for a BLAST!
