Made my first home-made pizza today, luckely alone doing it, otherwise nothing would have been done but laughing. It's in the oven now, an interesting lunch, the tasting will also be done alone for others safety, on the other hand no egg-shells in the food as some other cooks none mentioned but never forgotten.

Looking at a video of Maier at Nagano, from start to when he fell- he sure as halibut knew how to start out of the gate. Dis guy wuz serious. I still want to know how he had such a spectacular fall- he had a training run, or two, no? Bill Johnson was '84, not '88. His quote before the downhill was: “I don't know why everyone else is even here, I'm going to win”. Vonn will probably be slightly more politically correct. Had wrong info. on Johnson-was from Idaho & Oregon-more like it. He was a bad boy J.D.- a judge told him to go to a racing camp or else. Later he lived in Van Nuys. Some nice retro photos of Karl Schranz on Google images-complete with leather helmet and his “famous Knesseil Star” skis- I had forgotten all about them- wonder if any racers still use Knesseil ?

Franz wuz proud,but later told Hermann: “Yo- Hermantor: head's up !!( dumkoff !) “. Favorite double whammy: twins Phil & Steve Mahre, gold & silver, Sarajevo '84. Favorite grand slam: J.-C., gold, silver, bronze -Grenoble, '68 (also wins award for highest percentage of races ever won in a world cup season-70%). Favorite Austrian villain who couldn't beat J.-C.: Karl Schranz. Favorite (other) grand slammer that I never knew: Toni Sailer- g,s,b: '56. Favorite Lake Tahoe /Sun Valley legendary wildmen way before anyone's time: Dick Buek & Jimmy Griffiths. Favorite “where the heck did this guy come from !?” (Van Nuys, Calif.-didn't start skiing till he was 12) : Bill Johnson- was it '88 ? Favorite “I remember her- she was good”: Anne Marie Moser- Proell. Favorite skier (women) that never won a gold: Tamara McKinney (Yo- Squaw Valley !)-actually I don't think she won any medal- won the World Cup, twice maybe- have to check. Favorite guy “because of that hat glued to his head”: Billy Kidd, silver, Innsbruck '64. Favorite skier who won 86 times but never raced DH or super G (did race downhill like once or twice , Kitzbuhel once I think -said: “glafluven, glaflaven, volvosaab- oiy vay: dis is nuts !”): Ingemar the Great. Favorite other “where the heck did he come from !?” (Rome): Tomba la Bomba. Favorite “where the heck did she come from !?”: Lindsey Vonn (Buck Hill, Minn.). Favorite Far Out, Groovy (man!) Hippie Olympic Underachiever: Bode, silver & silver, Salt Lake City (also, favorite born skiing artist after J.-C.). Favorite skier to sneakily rise to the occasion: Yo- Mancuso !- Torino '06. That about covers it. I looked up the History of The Hermanator- he's actually second in all-time wins, 54, to Stenmark. He was in the Austrian program at 15 but didn't make the cut at 16. Worked as a bricklayer till he tried to come back at 22. Internet article said “manual labor had made him bigger & stronger”. Yep-core strength. Jules looks a little thin around the waist to me- as opposed to Vonn, Riesch, Fischbacher . Bricks & Dishes.
