Musings from the Road (Literally)

Hey Everyone:

I’m just rolling along in the bus that I rented for the winter season, watching the little cars down below. Laptop on the table, water at my side, the faint rumble of the Michelins massage and coax the words out of me and into this blog.

My life long friend Rory who just flew in to Munich, Stefan (the driver and cook) and I are doing a late night journey from Innsbruck to St. Moritz, the downhill and SuperG location for this week. Looking out of this window, I once again realize just how much I love freedom in my life. The freedom to roam, freedom to explore, to share, to rip it, or to do none of those things and just be.

And sometimes you’re thrust into chaos and mayhem like I was this weekend at ISPO (no idea what it stands for). What’s ISPO? It’s just a HUUUUUUUUUUGE convention in Munich with hundreds, if not thousands of manufacturers demoing their gear to retailers, taking orders for those who are sold on the goods and woo-ing those who aren’t with drinks, food, celebrities, and free stuff…

Ted Ligety, Luc Alphand and I attracted hords at the Rossi booth, signing autographs, taking pictures, answering questions, etc… Was really fun and always good to get together with your sponsors and be of benefit to each other. Here are some pics from Monday (they were taken with a phone, so they’re not master pieces). I love that hand-sketched poster of me… pretty accurate! Good job Rossi sketcher guy (or girl)!

Oooooh and then there’s my membership site. It’s launched! Click on that red slide above to see what it’s all about. Still need to see when I can get on the live chat with you (my schedule is jam-packed with downhill training runs and various other things…). It will be within a week though. I’ll also try to make sure to make the chat sessions convenient for my North American friends as well as European. And even if you miss me this time, I’ll be back on periodically and plus you can ask questions in the forum and I’ll answer in either written word, video, or maybe simple audio.

So, enjoy the bounty of the site, tune into this weekend’s race from St. Moritz, make sure you’re signed up to my newsletter so we can tell you when I’m going to be on live chat, and recall the freedom that you possess in your life to do whatever your heart tells you.

From the Road with Love,
Jules…

Amazing Cortina and News on Resi

Hi Everyone!

Here’s a quick blog entry before I turn in for the evening.  This week has been amazing in Cortina. It snowed for 3 days straight, more than I have seen in a while, its nice. With two training runs cancelled, my friends and I just had to utilize the opportunity and hit powder. It was like a real SNOWDAY! Just like I remembered from when I was a kid.

Also, I chatted with Resi and she told me to send all of you who have supported her a big “thank you!”  She is in great spirits, and wanted to share some pics!

As you can see Resi once again can make the best out of any situation!  This is from when she was in the hospital.  She had to get some plates put in her arm, and she is going to have a nice scar!!

Her knee is much better than everyone thought too so she will be hobbling around on crutches for a little while, then be jumping around I am sure soon after!

(Send Resi your thoughts by leaving a comment here!)

I am back in the bus once again and I have been rocking out to Guitar Hero!  I can now feel like a true rockstar!

My Grandparents and my Mom are here in Cortina and I am excited to have them here. OK, they got to see a 7th place finish today in the downhill, but that’s definitely nothing to hang my head about.

Tomorrow Super G! Come out to Cortina or watch on TV!

Ciao from Italy,
Jules

St. Anton Near Collision Revisited

Hi Everyone:

Thank you all for the many comments… I like to check in and read them. I’m in Cortina, Italy now and today’s downhill training run had to be canceled because of too much snow. Near whiteout conditions. We’re schedule to run tomorrow at noon.

Also tomorrow (Thursday) is an autograph signing at K2 in town. I’ll be there after bib draw, so make sure to stop by! Bib draw is at 5 and the signing should be right after at 5:30 or so. See you there!

Ohhh and here is a pretty nuts video of St. Anton when I nearly hit a course worker who strayed on the hill during training. I’m sure he feels just horrible about it and yeah, it was dangerous as hell, but what else can I do but forgive him?

So Mister course worker in St. Anton: I forgive you and hope you’re new year is going well!

Talk to you guys later!

Jules
