Our Thailand Trip

Hi Friends!

Resi, Chemmy and I had a great time in Thailand. We traveled what seemed like everywhere over 10 days.

We ate, swam, played and enjoying all that Thailand has to offer, and man, is it ever an amazing place! The only thing that really disappointed us was all the trash. It is such a reminder of how lucky we all are to live in clean environments (although Hawaii has its fair share of junk cars dumped on the side of the road here and there).

The lesson for me is quite simple: be mindful of the trash I produce (reduce what I use, reuse things, and recycle) and then I really encourage everyone to pick up their trash!

I hope you enjoy our little pics, I am going to pick out some more favorites and add them to my photo album. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Ciao!
Jules

Happy Earth Day!

When Google puts an Earth Day edition google iceberg on their homepage, that means something. I know that there are many countries — especially out in Europe — that are quite forward thinking in their green policies, which is awesome. I think other’s perception of the US is quite critical in regards to our lagging behind in the environmental movement. There is good news however. “Going green” has really hit the mainstream here now. I can feel the fabric of the nation changing, from more governmental support for green policy on the state level to industry changing to cost saving, more energy efficient business practices and also individual citizens are doing their part more and more. Examples are, governor Arnold Schwarzenegger mandating some of the greenest policy in the US (more clean cars on the road, boosting forestry to retain CO2, upping energy efficiency standards, investing in renewable energy, etc… oh and supposedly, he got himself Biodiesel Hummers now), companies like Wal-mart embracing environmentally sustainable practices (if you can believe it), and people all over the place switching out their incandescent bulbs to Compact Fluorescent bulbs that use about 1/3 of the energy. The media coverage has been unbelievable here. Everywhere you turn, you’ve got news reports on the green movement… and that’s great. Put all of these little things together and to me, we’ve got ourselves a little change in paradigm. I feel hopeful about our future! Our bib and helmet auction from a couple of months ag0 — by the way — made somewhere around $2400 for the World Wildlife Fund and Right to Play. That’s great! But I know that we can do much more together… We’re working on another auction for the start of next ski season and hopefully we’ll have a whole lot more goodies lined up to raise A LOT MORE MONEY! For now though, we hope you’re enjoying this beautiful blue planet we call home… wherever you are. With Aloha and Green Goodness, we send you our warmest Earth Day greetings! Ohh Yeah… and I Caught Up with Tamara McKinney

Besides a whole bunch of free skiing, I had the chance to catch up with Tamara McKinney too. Below’s a pic of the two of us… Ciao! Tamara and I at Squaw

A Little Gondola Hip Hop For You

Hi Everybody! I’m sorry it’s taken so long for me to get back in touch with you. After the season in Europe was finished and all the hoopla finally melted away, I just wanted to chill to the max. So I just went back home and did some free skiing in Squaw with my friends (see the crazy little video below). Of course then it was back off to Alaska for the US Nationals. It was a blast up there! The hill was super fun and just to hit it with all my friends on the team was great. Competition is done for this season and what better way to get away from it all than to head of to Thailand? Resi, Chemmy and I are going spend a couple of weeks exploring a new and exciting culture. There’s no better way to expand, grow, and get out of ones’ every day life, than to travel and see how other people live. Can’t wait! I’m going to try to check in one more time before I leave… but for now all I can say is: THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT THIS SEASON! I couldn’t have done it without you! Aloha, Jules
