St. Anton and enjoying some time off the race hill.

It was a blast to check out St Anton when I had some time off!  There is such great skiing there, and its always nice to enjoy a bit of Austria off the race slopes.

Top of the world!

I skied a few runs with my dad and it was pretty sweet, though the visibility was not great. We had to go with feeling on the way down which is always a bit of a bummer when you want to just let it rip!  Especially with all the new snow!

DAD

Every year in St. Anton they do a show to celebrate the tradition of skiing in the Arlberg. It was cool to see all the different styles.  They even brought out skis from 1900.  That was cool to see the guys go down on the old stuff! It was classic seeing the ski instructors ski in formation too.  It reminded me a lot of the movie hot dog, and the tradition of Austrian Ski Instructing was shining through at full force!  ski formation

Thanks St. Anton for showing me and my family a great time!  We will definitely be back, and hoping for the races to be there again soon!

Happy New Year!

Ladies and Gentlemen please fasten your seatbelt’s and enjoy the ride! There are no emergency exits on this trip and I must advise you to please leave all unnecessary baggage in 2009 as this will be a very full year and you may experience trouble when trying to fit all your new experiences in your carry on:)

Boom boom

We had a great New Years Celebration at Pinky’s Einsiedelei hut in Kitzbuhel.

unsuspected obstacles

I know its been awhile since I’ve been able to blog about my great racing success, but it seems these times are meant to challenge me a bit. I added a picture of me and trainer Bob from when I was helping out with The Biggest Loser because it represents a few key themes in life; perseverance and goal setting. I always look to learn things from my sport that can transfer into everyone’s life, competition or not. In my case I had a dream to win a gold medal, and I achieved it! For the contestants on The Biggest Loser, they push themselves to lose weight, and they really do go for it! In anything you do in life there are struggles, for me right now, its finding that Podium again. I believe I can do it! And as tough as it is to get up the next day and battle it out after things go bad, I believe that the more I keep fighting, it will click. Its all about keep on keeping on. So I encourage everyone to go for that Podium with me! Stay cool, stay positive, and be tough!
